Emergency and Intensive Care

At AniCura Marina Baixa Veterinary Hospital we have a 24-hour emergency service, a home collection service for patients and several independent hospitalisation wards: A ward for surgical patients, an internal medicine ward for dogs and another for cats and exotic animals and an infectious ward. We have an intensive care unit for critical patients. Hospitalised patients are permanently monitored by veterinarians day and night (24 hours a day). 
 
At AniCura Marina Baixa Veterinary Hospital we have a blood bank with availability of fresh whole blood, red blood cells and frozen plasma for both dogs and cats. 
 
The use of veterinary blood is indicated for the following pathologies: Aplastic Anaemia, Anaemia with Coagulopathy, Anaemia with Hypoproteinaemia, Anaemia with Hypovolaemia, Haemolytic Anaemia, Hypoplastic Anaemia, Regenerative Anaemia, Chronic Renal Anaemia, C.I.D., Massive Haemorrhage, Neonatal Isoerythrolysis, Pancytopenia, Liver Disease with Anaemia, Vom Willebrand's Disease (Fresh Whole Blood only), Haemophilia A, Haemophilia factor IX, Anticoagulant Toxicity. 
 
In our Hospital we have a Peritoneal Dialysis service for renal insufficiency.
